A quarter of the NFL Season has already finished, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hit a bump in a road.

With back to back wins to start the season against the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles, the Bucs looked promising, however they have dropped their last two games, in which they were beaten in all sides of the ball.

Last Sunday, the Bucs were crushed by the Chicago Bears 48-10, where the nonexisting defense let Mitch Trubisky, you heard that right,   Mitch Trubisky throw for 354 yards, 6 touchdowns, and had almost a perfect passer rating of 154.6. Trubisky had only 9 touchdown passes all last season, and only 2 touchdown pass in three games of this season. There is a lot of blame to be assigned from Buccaneer fans. Zach Roher, Senior, blames the secondary, “Our secondary is depleted, with four injuries, two of them season ending, it is hard to train new guys in less than a week. The Bucs need a change on the defensive side and they need it fast”

Mike Smith, Bucs Defensive Coordinator, has had his defensive scheme been constantly pounded on each and every week. According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, In Smith’s 36 games, the Bucs have given up 400+ yards 19 times and 30+ points, 13 times which are the most in the NFL, in that span. Luckily, the Bucs don’t have a game this week, and they have time to make changes before October 14th at the Falcons.

The offense wasn’t any better. After having an incredible start to the season, Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched, allowing Jameis Winston to enter after halftime. Fitzpatrick was the starter for the first three games of the season leading the Bucs to a 2-1 Record. He was very good, in place of the suspended Jameis Winston, who was named NFC player of the week twice. A day after the game, Dirk Koetter, the Buccaneers head coach,  confirmed that Winston will start Week 6 vs the Falcons, and will return to his duties as the franchise quarterback.

The Bucs travel to play the struggling Atlanta Falcons on  October 14th in hopes of rebounding from this terrible loss.
