The entire class of 2024 met each other for the first time on campus. Students were given the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and socialize with other freshmen in an on-campus event with Pathfinders which is an outdoor non-profit organization that helps youth and adults create bonds.

“Our goal was to be able to have some class bonding opportunities as part of our day. With the Pathfinders experience it really is a team building exercise” said Freshman Class Dean Christine Jisha.

Prior to the Pathfinders event students felt apprehensive about meeting all of their classmates. Even while students felt apprehensive, they were still excited to meet and make friends.

“I met a lot more people and I have people I can talk to now. I liked getting to do a lot of fun activities and getting to know each other” said freshmen Elise Bertolino.

Students did many icebreaker activities which lead to students becoming more comfortable with one another. They did activities with symbols and ropes, and all activities made students open up by getting to know each other and rely on each other.

“The activities we did helped us all bond and made us realize that teamwork is important.  It was uncomfortable at first but it made you open up more as you went along and it was really nice” said Seth Black-Diamond (‘24).

Students were divided up into groups for activities and when the activities took a pause during lunch students were able to catch up with one another.

“I think most people actually had fun during lunchtime because everyone was there. I was excited and I was able to meet a lot of new people and we got to really interact with people” said Sophia Burdge (‘24).

Pathfinders was great for students to create new friends and meet up with old friends. The experience allowed freshmen to socialize with one another and do uncomfortable activities in order to get out of their comfort zone.
