Terps Got Talent- Black Box Unplugged

On Jan. 20, students had the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of other Terrapins at the annual Black Box Unplugged event featuring vocalists and musicians that performed a wide range of music.

This annual tradition was originally pushed back due to schedule changes from Hurricane Ian. Despite the date change, the event was still a success.

“I sang ‘Tv Girl’ by Billie Eilish because it’s in a good part of my [vocal]  range, and it worked well for me,” senior Eva Pierce said.

While some students faced setbacks and challenges preparing for the event, they were able to overcome them and enjoy performing in front of their peers.

“The biggest issue was inconsistent practice time, but we brought it together,” junior Wes Proulx said. “I sang ‘Black Summer’ and ‘Breaking The Girl’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers which I think are both really pretty songs,” Proulx said.

Later in the spring, there will be another opportunity for students to showcase their vocal talents. Rock the Lot, the annual parking lot concert on the last day of classes is scheduled for May 28.
