Tampa Prep students are gearing up for one of their favorite events – the annual Declamations. This highly anticipated event is a chance for students to showcase their public speaking skills and deliver speeches in front of their English classes.
With just one week left until declamations start, many students are busy preparing their speeches, practicing their delivery, and perfecting their stage presence. Whether they choose to deliver an inspiring poem, a thought-provoking essay, or a personal narrative, each student is sure to bring their unique perspective.
The excitement is palpable as the students look forward to sharing their ideas and making their mark on this beloved tradition.
“I definitely appreciate the fact that we do them because not only does it help build social skills, it allows us to speak on topics we are very passionate about,” CJ Davis (10) said.
Declamations open up an avenue for students to expand their knowledge in subjects they are interested in.
“Some of my favorite topics are music, sports, siblings,” Anaya Clebert (10) said. She hopes to focus on these topics in her declamation.
In preparation for Declamations they can bring about some anxiety but will be beneficial in the long run
“I am very prepared, I even started using a memorization app,” Kimora Green (9) said.
However, many can agree that declamations help improve their public speaking and memorization skills.
Students will begin round one of declamations next week, February 5-9.
