Both the upper school and middle school Science Olympiad teams recently went to the University of Florida for a tournament. Science Olympiad is a rigorous academic competition in which students compete in 23 different events in various fields of science.
“Some of the events are just sitting and taking tests and other events are building something to accomplish a goal,” senior Maddie Mitchell said.
Fossils, geological mapping, code busters, astronomy, and anatomy are examples of some of the events that Tampa Prep Students participated in. When not occupied by the rigorous tournament, the small group of students were able to bond and gain strong friendships.
“I enjoyed the memories that I made with our team and I made a lot of friends,” senior Gabby Richter said.
While the upper school team did not place very high at the tournament, they were still happy with the outcome after competing against some of the top selected schools in Florida.
“We did good, but we were competing against tough teams,” said Richter.
