As the Autumn leaves begin to fall, the air is filled with excitement for the annual homecoming dance. Set to take place on Saturday, November 2nd in the school gymnasium, students will dress and expect decorations according to this year’s theme, “Red Carpet”. Students are hoping to enjoy the highlight of the year, despite the let down due to the location change.
Student council members have been working towards creating the best possible environment for the student body to enjoy, being as to the change in location has caused some commotion amongst the students. Member, Taylor Gunnin, says “I think no matter what the location is, it truly is what the students make of it,”. As a senior at Tampa Prep, Gunnin has already gone through a similar experience, as during her freshman year at Prep, the homecoming had to take place inside the gym and at the pool deck.
The student council hopes for students to enjoy the dance, as they are striving to go all out with decorations this year. With this year’s theme being the red carpet, students should hope to see decorations related to Hollywood, and, of course, the red carpet.
“We just want this night to be a memorable experience, not only for the dance, but for the decorations, and we’re hoping the decorations look as professional as possible”, says Gunnin.
From the perspective of a student at Tampa Prep, students are hoping for something different, that truly makes the dance an unforgettable experience.
Sophomore student, Giselle Sai, describes “The main thing I’m really looking forward to is having a good DJ, because it honestly makes or breaks the entire dance”.
Coincidentally, she is not the only student that has mentioned the importance of having a good DJ. The students just want to enjoy the night with their friends, and be able to also enjoy the music, so they are urged to dance and have more fun.
In the same way, faculty members who are attending the dance also look forward to a fun evening, watching the students come together and enjoy something as a whole.
Dean of students, Mr. Axford, looks forward to his first ever homecoming at Tampa Preparatory School. He mentions that “I enjoy these kinds of events because it brings all the kids together, and they step up the way they present themselves and bring so much energy for this one night”.
Homecoming is a highly anticipated event, bringing the student body together for a night of excitement. It is truly one of the best nights of the school year that all students continue looking forward to.
