The Tampa Prep Men’s Soccer Team is on a mission for a state championship, and the players believe this could be the year they make it happen.
The team opened the playoffs with a dominant 3-0 victory over Bell Creek High School, with goals from Sayani Alvarado, Luka Zujovic, and Ezekiel Van Heyst. Their next challenge is against Community School of Naples, and they’ll have the home-field advantage.
Senior captain Jackson Smith emphasized the pride he feels in leading the squad.
“It feels good knowing that you’re representing a group of boys who are competitive and good guys in general,” he said.
That strong team identity is driving their championship aspirations.
Team chemistry has been a major factor in their success. Senior Gaines Dembrose highlighted the bond among players, both on and off the field.
“The bond between us is great. Everyone is friends outside of soccer, which strengthens our connection,” he said.
Unlike past teams, Tampa Prep isn’t built around a single star player but thrives on collective effort.
“We all work together and don’t rely on one person, which has brought us closer,” Dembrose added.
Even the team managers recognize the team’s potential.
Senior manager Camille Quattrone confidently predicted, “They’re gonna win everything and win states.”
That belief extends beyond the team—the entire school is rallying behind them, hoping to see them bring home the championship trophy.
With a strong roster, a deep bond, and unwavering support from their school, the Terrapins are ready to make their mark.
