Lacrosse started their season February 12th with a tenuous 4-3 overtime win. Since then the boys lacrosse team is 3-0 and off to a hot start. Amidst the buzz currently surrounding the team many players are surprised about the hot start.
Junior Antony Simonetti mentioned that the team thought they would lose the first two games, yet they still won. He credited the victory to the team’s hard work.
“We put a lot of effort in practice, and it showed in the last half of each game,” Simonetti said.
Junior Seth Barack missed the first two games yet noticed a similar theme. He reflected on the team’s progress upon his return.
“It was clear that while I was gone, the team put in a lot of work, and it seemed that everyone improved,” Barack said. “It was like I was going into a well-oiled machine.”
Amid the hot start, the team seems to have its eyes set on the playoffs. Fourth-year senior Owen Manning has a clear goal for the season.
“My goal is to win a playoff game,” Manning said, noting that it hasn’t been a common occurrence in years past.
The boys lacrosse team’s hot start may not be as surprising as some expected, as the team appears focused on winning this year. With noticeable improvement from last season, they are a team to watch.
