From the sands of McDugald Park to the regional court, our very own beach volleyball team is serving up a season for the books. As they gear up for regional finals this Tuesday against Montverde Academy, the girls of the beach volleyball team are positioned for a potential championship win.
With a particularly new set of faces on the team, assistant coach, Leanna Taylor, has enjoyed and hoped for a continued successful team this season.
“With all the newcomers of the team, I feel like there has been a different overall drive and team morale that has brought us lots of successful matches” Taylor notes.
Along with the coaches, many players of the team have expressed the change in discipline and teamwork of the team as a whole, sharing how they’ve had a very positive experience throughout the season so far. One player in particular, Mila Zujovic, has shared her thoughts of the season so far.
”I feel like with the new players and coaching, everyone has been taking this sport more seriously, rather than just a side sport for extra reps, and it’s really been translating clearly in each game,” Zujovic mentions.
Looking ahead to the upcoming regional match, the girls of the beach volleyball team have challenging matches ahead of them, battling against the number 1 team in their seed, Montverde Academy.
“Going up against Montverde is going to be a huge challenge for us, but if we apply everything we’ve been training for this season, staying loose and focused, then we should have no problem taking home the regional win,” Zujovic said.
The girls and the coaches are striving towards victory in this difficult match, as this could be the continuation or the end of the 2024-2025 season. Their dedication and teamwork continue to embody the athletic excellence at Tampa Preparatory School.
