Megan Koenig is a new math teacher for algebra classes and financial literacy. As a recent college graduate, she is able to relate more easily to her students and their struggles.
Koenig was a substitute teacher last year for a math class after a teacher left. Teaching math came easily to her because she’s been tutoring for years. “I’m able to communicate higher-level math in simple words,” Koenig said.
“Being in the classroom as a sub made me realize my passion for teaching,” Koenig said. She realized while subbing that she enjoyed working with the students, and she liked that the environment was not very stressful.
While she follows the curriculum for her algebra classes, she wrote her own for her financial literacy class.
“[I] have more freedom with financial literacy,” said Koenig.
She’s passionate about helping her students with being financially capable and believes this is important to prepare students for their future.
She is also working with Mr. Franz to implement a business program. She believes that it’s important to teach students about business because many people choose to study it in college.
Koenig is very passionate about her teaching and feels inspired when she is able to connect with students.
