The Tampa Prep High School robotics team has just made worlds for the fourth time in four years. Worlds is the competition where the best teams from each state compete at a convention center in Dallas, Texas. This team has been extremely successful with building their robots and creatively solving problems.
Everyone on the team has a different job that works together as they code, build, and design their robot.
“I am working on a new robot for worlds, more specifically the chassis. The other builder has been working with CAD to digitally create our robot,” says Adin Shah.
The team members spend hours every week working on their robots and they are very dedicated to what they do in robotics
“[Robotics] is very similar to a sports team with the immense sense of camaraderie and getting to share wins, losses, struggles, and triumphs with your team, “ says senior Elise Bertilino. Senior, Kat Grubbs, adds, “The team feels like a community.”
The robotics club is a place where people who are passionate about engineering, building, or coding can find people with similar interests and make lifelong friendships.
It has taken the team countless hours and lots of hard work to make it all the way to worlds. One of the members even stated that they sometimes work more than forty hours a week.
It is a big accomplishment to make it to worlds, and it just shows the passion and dedication that the students at Tampa Prep have.
