On April 4th our very own terrapin choir went to New York City to sing at The Carnegie Hall. Carnegie Hall is internationally recognized as one of the best places for artists and singers, and our terrapins had the honor of singing there.
Lilyanna Meyer, a sophomore in the choir class, said her “favorite part of the trip was probably just all of the times that we got to spend together as a class. We all became 10 times closer than we already were and it’s just so great to be able to classify us more as a friend group than just a class,”.
Andrew Hoy, Tampa Preps choir teacher said “All of the students established new and deepened friendships,”.
This trip was not only a major achievement as singers, but as Meyer (10) expressed, a bonding experience between all the choir students.
“On the bus ride to New York, we stopped and had a snowball fight in front of a McDonalds. Everyone was having a great time and it was super funny seeing everyone get pelted with snowballs,” said Meyers (10).
Another sophomore in the choir group, Sophia Lunsford said “My absolute favorite part, other than performing in Carnegie Hall, was seeing snow when we drove through Connecticut. It was my first time seeing snow and we had a snowball fight which was so fun,”.
While in New York City the group not only performed at Carnegie Hall, but sung at other destinations while sightseeing.
While exploring all the classic New York staples, they made a stop in Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty, where they gathered together as a group to sing the National Anthem.
They were able to sing together, explore together, play together, and even celebrate their amazing performance together. Their trip to New York City was a very enjoyable trip for all of them and definitely one they will never forget.
