This past Saturday, Robert Gregory Bowers shot and killed 11 people and injured 6 others during a Saturday morning synagogue service in Pittsburgh. The reason behind this horrific act of terror is clear: anti-semitism.

Bowers had entered the Tree of Life Synagogue wielding an AR-15 assault rifle and shouting racist phrases.

According to CNN, Bowers continued shouting he wanted all “Jews to die,” following his arrest.

Bowers believed the Jewish population was responsible for transporting immigrants across the border. He actively criticized President Donald Trump on social media, even mentioning how he did not vote for him.

The victims of this shooting were the elderly members of the synagogue, with their ages ranging 54 to 97.

Even though most presume this attack to solely be upon the Jewish community, Tree of Life Rabbi Jeffrey Myers feels differently.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Myers stated, “Many just see this an attack on the Jewish community. It’s not.” He continued with, “When American citizens cannot freely and safely worship in their house of worship and celebrate the Sabbath, it concerns me because it challenges the safety and security of all Americans in any house of worship.”

In response to the shooting, President Donald Trump thought the best way to combat this issue was to fight guns with more guns.

“An armed guard might have been able to stop the gunman immediately,” Trump said in an interview with press after the shooting.

In regards to the proper punishment for Bowers, Trump said, “They should pay the ultimate price.” The ultimate price meaning the death penalty.

Trump was scheduled to speak at two conventions on the day of the mass shooting. After receiving the news of the attack, Trump went on with his regularly scheduled appearances for the day.

Trump mentioned in one of his scheduled speeches how he had considered cancelling his appearances but not for the reason some may think. “I said, ‘Maybe I should cancel this arrangement because I have a bad hair day,’” Trump said, referring to the fact that he had been standing in the rain while speaking to the press regarding his initial thoughts on the shooting.

In Trump’s personal opinion, the bad news of the day was “somebody” claiming his hair actually looked better than it usually does.

Bowers is being held in custody while facing 29 charges of first degree murder, as well as using a fireman to commit murder and multiple hate crimes.
