The Current’s Top 5 Halloween Movies

It’s the spookiest time of year and you know what that means; Jack o’ lantern, candy apples, and best of all Halloween Movies. From spooky horror films to cult classics, there is something for everyone. We polled the Tampa Prep community and got these results for the best Halloween movies. Pull out your popcorn and fuzzy blankets, The Current presents to you the top five best Halloween films!

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Our favorite character Jack Skellington, the Halloween Town King, accidentally finds himself in Christmas Town, sending a Halloween curse upon the Christmas season. Tim Burton outdoes himself in one of the best Halloween films, combining two of the best holidays to make a perfect mashup of spooky and jolly.

  1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

 

Our favorite childhood characters, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang are getting ready for Halloween. Linus and Sally wait for the Great Pumpkin to grace them with its presence in a pumpkin patch. Charlie Brown and the gang are a great family-friendly addition to the sometimes eerie characters from the rest of the list. To make this even better, ABC plays this movie annually on October 31st.

 

  1. Ghostbusters

When a team of scientists stumble upon another dimension, it’s up to them to save the world from being taken over by ghost and ghouls. This great series is a classic, especially the ‘Stay Puft’ ghost! The big, fluffy white ghostly creature that looks like an evil Pillsbury Doughboy makes this movie one to remember!

 

  1.  The Addams Family

Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley and the rest of the family all band together as the Addams Family. When Gomez’s brother Fester comes back into the picture after a long mysterious time of him being missing their world get even more spooky than it already is. The Addams moved from the TV screen to the movie screen seamlessly with one of the best films of the season.

  1. Hocus Pocus

Max Dennison, his sister Dani, and their friend Allison go explore the old abandoned house of the Sanderson sisters, accidentally setting them free, and allowing them to wreak havoc on Halloween. In addition to this movie’s spooky nature it adds in fun musical numbers and creative young actors. This movie is always a must for the spooky season.
