Sabrina is Back and Better Than Ever

Television’s favorite teenage witch is back. Sabrina, the Teenage Witch returned to our screens on the streaming service Netflix, on October 26. The 90’s sitcom, originally a comic book series, was directed by Rob Seidenglanz the director of hit show Riverdale located in the same realm as Sabrina.

Seidenglanz gives you all the thrills and chills, giving you the same feels of Riverdale as you watch The Chilling Tales of Sabrina.

Sabrina Spellman is just a normal teenage girl, or so people may think, but in reality, Sabrina has a shocking secret that she can’t tell anyone. She is half mortal and half witch. On Sabrina’s sixteenth birthday she has to sign her name in ‘the book of the beast’ so that she may inherit all of her magical powers, making a choice between her destiny or her mortal life.

This show throws many twists and turns throughout all ten episodes of the series, leaving an open ending that should be renewed in the near future.

The show touches on certain topics that make it even more enjoyable, such as topics of LGBT themes as well as women’s rights. Even with these positive topics, there are talks on cannibalism in a small way as well as human sacrifices. These topics are lightly brushed upon but quite enjoyable nevertheless.

The loveable Salem, the cat, has taken a new turn. Some may remember back in the 1990’s sitcom Salem the cat was a snarky, lovable feline that created quick commentary throughout the show. Now Salem is just a plain cat that follows Sabrina almost everywhere she goes. Personally, that was quite a letdown due to the amount of commentary that Salem could’ve brought to the storyline.

Overall, the show was quite entertaining to watch. It incorporated aspects from the 2014 comic book series as well as the 1996 tv sitcom starring beloved Melissa Joan Hart.
