After making a career being energetic and creative, the 22-year-old Simone Biles has rewritten history and has become the world-record holder for most gold medals earned by a gymnast.

On Oct. 13, Biles and the rest of the USA Gymnastics Team headed to Stuttgart, Germany for the World Gymnastics Championships.

On the final day of the World Gymnastics Championships, standing 4-foot-8-inches, Biles stepped up to the balance beam. With the most technically demanding routine standing in front of her, she was able to get a nearly flawless score of 15.066.

With her 24th gold medal, she breaks the record previously held by the Russian Vitaly Scherbo in 1996. With her newly acquired medals, Biles also breaks the record of another Russian, Svetlana Khorkina, as the most decorated gymnast.

After breaking the record for the number of gold medals from a gymnast, Biles sent the record one step further with a floor exercise. She executed a triple twisting double somersault and set the record to 25 gold medals.

Biles has extended the boundaries of not only women gymnastics, but for all of gymnastics for generations to come. With her hard work in gymnastics, she has had two skills named after her, the Biles dismount and the Biles II on the floor.

With little time left in her career, Biles looks forward to winning gold for Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
